2024-05-16

Organization: Antonio Jorge Gonçalves Soares (UFRJ), Cristiano Mezzaroba (UFS), Silvio Ricardo da Silva (UFMG) and Daniel Machado da Conceição (NEPESC/UFSC)

Football is a fertile terrain for expectations, belongings, identities, ideologies, political, economic and mediatic agendas, behaviors, controversies, associations and ruptures. In this dossier, INCT – National Institute of Science and Technology Brazilian Football Studies, invites researchers to approach football from their academic experiences, in the fields of human and social sciences.

With this dossier in Ambivalências, we seek to encourage and bring together bibliographical production – whether in the form of original articles originating from empirical or theoretical research, documentary research, essays, reviews and interviews – that approaches football from its anthropological, sociological or multidisciplinary perspectives, contributing to a better understanding of this phenomenon that mobilizes the most diverse groups.

We rely on the production of different Brazilian institutions and regions and also authors from abroad, whose object of investigation is football in Brazil or in their countries, sending, for this dossier, original contributions aligned to one of the following axes:

• Anthropology or sociology of sport
• Football, politics, ideology and power
• Gender in football
• Originary, quilombola and traditional people´s football
• Racism and homophobia in football practices, events, institutions and media
• Ethnography of football fans, communities and organizations
• Football sociotechnical networks
• Football and its living spaces
• Essay, documentary research
• Review of a recent work with an anthropological or social approach to football
• Interview within the theme of the dossier
