It seems reasonable to think about the suitability of some professionals who publish scientific or journalistic information on topics of social interest when they use Statistics to give credibility to what is disclosed. However, being concerned with reading and appropriating data as a form of social action (prevention, planning, decision, etc.) is one of the commitments of Statistical Education (SE). In this sense, this paper presents an excerpt from an investigation with 16 students of the 8th grade of Basic Education on the use of digital technologies (DT), such as Whatsapp, Facebook and Excel, in conducting an opinion educative survey based on the learning approach of the Nossa Escola Pesquisa Sua Opinião (Nepso) project or "our school survey your opinion", in English. In particular, the cognitive dimension of statistical literacy is discussed from the perspective of the experience with Nepso from the learning constituted and mobilized over eight meetings in which students researched on the topic of entertainment, focuses and questions of interest, all chosen by them. Thus, evidence of the development of statistical literacy signals the importance of supporting of the DT in situations of statistical learning and that Nepso, with its steps, competences and skills, is an important didactic investment for SE.
