In this work, we are interested in studying linear and quadratic functions involving the floor function, which we denote as floor functions of degrees 1 and 2, respectively. More specifically, we determine the set of their zeros, as well as establish necessary and sufficient conditions on the coefficients for such zeros to exist. We present a method that allows us to find and detail the solution sets, describing them as a finite union of subintervals of the real line.
