This paper presents a Systematic Review of the Literature carried out in the research project "Histories of mathematics of the Mayan civilization", inserted in the context of the Institutional Program of Scientific Initiation Scholarships of the Federal University of Alagoas (Pibic-Ufal). The focus of the review was to investigate how national academic research explores the mathematics present in the Mayan Calendars. For that, 232 relevant studies were identified in Google Scholar, of which 7 studies were selected for in-depth analysis based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Mayan calendars studied were analyzed in terms of their mathematical structure, their use of the vigesimal numeral system, and their integration into Mathematics education. The conclusion highlights that, although the vigesimal system plays a crucial role in the construction of these calendars, there lack of studies that explore this relationship more comprehensively. Then, the paper emphasizes the importance of deepening research into the connection between Mathematics, history, and culture, encouraging educators and researchers to integrate these themes into teaching.
