This article aims to discuss a pedagogical approach to mathematics teacher training from a decoloniality perspective, embedded within the perspective of Problematized Mathematics. It draws on a qualitative approach and develops empirical research. To this end, the study focuses on Calculus classes taught by the second author to a group of undergraduate mathematics students. Observation is used as a procedure for data collection and division into critical episodes for analysis. Overall, the results indicate that concepts of differential calculus were addressed in close connection with high school mathematics, enabling a deeper and more meaningful understanding of mathematics for teaching. Thus, we question the practice of teacher educators who are dedicated to reproducing formal definitions devoid of meaning and who encourage the memorization of rules per se, concealing the
processes of conceptual construction and ignoring the relationships between undergraduate mathematics and the mathematics to be taught, which are essential to the teaching profession. The Problematized Mathematics presents itself as a decolonial proposal for calculus in teacher training.
