Semiótica e literatura: uma análise de um texto bíblico pela teoria de Charles Peirce

Abstract

This article aims to carry out an exercise in the interpretation of a literary text - more specifically a biblical text - using Peircean semiotics. The concepts used come from Peirce’s philosophy, taking into account, mainly, the classification of arguments, the classification of signs and his notion of how the process of scientific investigation takes place. The biblical text to be used is the account of the resurrection of Jesus, as written by the evangelist John, and the proposed purpose is to understand how Charles Peirce’s general semiotics can collaborate in the understanding of the mechanisms of meaning of the text, providing the exegete with concepts that are fruitful in terms of textual understanding, in addition to demonstrating that semiotics can be used as a tool for dialogue between philosophy and literature. In the end, it is understood that, in fact, Peircean semiotics provides useful elements to this enterprise.
