Abstract

This is a study on the work of Antonio Gramsci and Adelmo Genro Filho on journalism, understood as a social form of knowledge production. It seeks to raise, in Gramsci, the notion of “integral journalism” and its intersections with the concepts of hegemony, knowledge and praxis. It also explores the work of Genro Filho and his “Marxist theory of journalism”,in which the concepts of knowledge, objectivity and praxis are fundamental. It is intended to distinguish both perspectives, especially with regard to the idea of journalistic praxis, understood here as attributed by Marx, which is a free, universal, creative and self-creative activity.
