Abstract

The present paper seeks to analyze the discursive representation of Rede Globo as portrayed in the Folha Universal newspaper. Employing a quali-quantitative approach, the study examines all instances of the term “globo” across the newspaper’s editions from 2019 to 2022, encompassing a total of 117 occurrences in 19 issues. Based on Critical Discourse Studies, we contend that the predominantly negative depiction of Globo is closely tied to a broader power project spearheaded by Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD) and aligned with right-wing and far-right discourses.
