Abstract

Martín Becerra analyzes the relationship between media power, political and economic interests in Argentina, highlighting the role of Grupo Clarín and its impact on democracy. He reviews the legacy of communication policies and the need for democratic regulation of big tech companies, contrasting the models of the U.S., China, and Europe. He addresses the challenges of contemporary journalism and advocates for journalism as a public good. He also emphasizes local initiatives that challenge the extractive logic of platforms, though still limited. Finally, he stresses the importance of a critical Latin American perspective to strengthen technological sovereignty and collective rights.
