THE FREEDOM IN ARENDT'S POLITICAL THOUGHT

Abstract

This article proposes to clarify the concept of political freedom in Hannah Arendt. Therefore, to meet the objective proposed by this article, spontaneity will be identified as a rudimentary and pre-political characteristic of freedom. Then, freedom will be understood from the exercise of action, the most important activity in the hierarchy of active life, which manifests spontaneity. The final part of this article will address that political freedom, in addition to the meaning linked to its various manifestations and the support of the active life, may have its meaning specifically evidenced in the work The Human Condition (2007) through reflection on “action”.
