AMONG SKEPTICS: THE CONFIGURATION OF SKEPTICISM IN PASCALIAN THOUGHT IN FRONT OF THE PHILOSOPHICAL POSITION OF PIERRE-DANIEL HUET
Abstract
We intend with the present work to describe how Pascal and Huet's thoughts and their understandings about skepticism developed as one of the references of philosophy in the 16th and 17th centuries. To achieve our goal, we will divide the theme into two moments. The first develops in Pascal's understanding of skepticism in order to emphasize his interpretation of Pyrrhonism and its implications in modern philosophy. The second develops in the construction of Huet's thought and the influence of Paschal philosophy in the elaboration of his thought. The bishop of Avranches is understood as one of the main names of 17th century scholarship, and Pascal, described as a devout religious. Therefore, we will seek to understand the relevance of skepticism in the work of these thinkers.
