Abstract

The present paper focuses on the relation between maiden (parthénoi) and marriage (gámos) in archaic Greek imagery, observing the way it is elaborated in its different poetic genres. By doing so, it discusses the essential place and the meaning of the gámos in female life as projected by poets and their songs.
