Abstract

This research aims to analyze the presence of figures of speech in Gorgian discourses. Gorgias de Leontinos is recognized by scholars of the sophists as one of the main representatives of this philosophical movement and this nickname is due to the fact that Gorgias has great persuasive power, related to the frequent use of figures of speech in his speeches. The research has as specific objectives to investigate the use of the figure of speech of structural repetition parallelism present in the Gorgian work Epitaph and to measure the implication of the use of the referred figure of the rhetorical speech in the same work. The theme is relevant for understanding the style of Gorgias' rant.
