Abstract

My aim in this text is to call attention to possible problems involved in two frequent strategies among Descartes's readers who maintain, on the one hand, that the Cartesian epistemic project is based on the metaphysical foundation of the truth of clear and distinct ideas and, on the other hand, that there is no circle in defending this reasoning which, in some way, depends on the truth of clear and distinct ideas.
