Abstract

feminine in Mary Somerville. To this end, the text is composed of three parts. In the first, I
investigate the reasons why Somerville refers to scientists as philosophers. Then, in the second
part, I address the link between philosophy, prejudice, and the feminine. Finally, in the last part,
I highlight why philosophy, for Somerville, is also a natural theology.
