Abstract

The studies of Regional History gained space in the historiography (RECKZIEGEL, 1999), with the expansion of the understanding about the concept region, these studies bring in its proposal to perceive the historical processes from other fields of observation. Seeking to build a region for the analysis, the practice of regional history provides for the establishment of criteria, which will give theoretical and methodological support for the understanding of the processes of continuities and discontinuities that will be analyzed. The article discusses elements that contribute to the understanding of regional history through a qualitative approach, establishing a discussion about its definitions, practices and possibilities. It seeks to problematize the centrality of the criteria and their importance in the cut that will be founded to constitute the region, starting from the studies of Ana Reckziegel (1999), José Barros (2007) and Maria Carbonari (2009).
