Abstract

This article aims to show "the last word" of these women through the analysis of wills, primary documents from the eighteenth century present in the General Archive of the Judiciary of Sergipe. The analysis was made from the comparison and transcription of four historical documents. Through these analyses, it is possible to show the woman as a historical, social and cultural agent of Sergipe's eighteenth-century society. Through the culture of the practice of “dying well”, sharing of goods and relationship with the enslaved, the present study tries to highlight the role of wealthy women in this society.
