THE PLACE OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN HISTORY TEXTBOOKS:
WHAT DO THE IMAGES TELL US?!

This article analyzes the “place” of Human Rights in History Textbooks based on images. For this, our theoretical framework is based on the contributions of Circe Bittencourt when dealing with the nature of the Textbook and the use of images, on the ideas of Luís Fernando Cerri on the importance of History in historical knowledge and on the contributions of Giuseppe Tosi and Vera Lúcia Candau, regarding the idea of Human Rights. At the same time, this work is based on the research methodology of bibliographical study. It is concluded that the presence of Human Rights in the images analyzed from the History Textbook is presented in a diffuse way, sometimes with images that contribute to the understanding of Human Rights[...]
