MENTAL CALCULATION IN THE EARLY YEARS OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: A VIEW AT BRAZILIAN NATIONAL CURRICULAR DOCUMENTS

Our aim in the text is to understand the characteristics and possibilities of Mental Calculation, showing how this type of calculation is proposed in national curricular documents: Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN), Pacto Nacional de Alfabetização na Idade Certa (PNAIC) and Base Nacional Comum Curricular ( BNCC), for the initial years of Elementary School. This is part of the research for master's research, developed by the author, with the Graduate Program in Mathematics Education at the XXX, campus XXX. The research that supports this text is qualitative in the phenomenological approach. For this article we bring the read authors that allow us to highlight characteristics of Mental Calculus and its possibilities of working in the classroom of the early years. Reading the national curriculum documents proposes a work in the early years of Elementary Education with Mental Calculation that values the understanding of mathematical content and the relationships that can be established between them, so that students develop and discuss their strategies with the teacher and colleagues. for problem solving..
