This article aims to convey the partial results of a doctoral research, whose scope is to investigate how Art and Mathematics are transversal and the pedagogical potential of the integration of knowledge from these disciplines for the teaching and learning of mathematics, materialized in the works of art of Almada Negreiros and the mathematical object of the plane curve. The proposal for an artistic-mathematical reading that we present has as its theoretical precept the concept of interdisciplinarity (POMBO, 1993) added to those of Peircean semiotics from Santaella (2012, 2018), which materializes in the reading of the work "Expulsion of Adam and Eva do Paraíso" (1952), in dialogue with the geometry of the golden spiral. The results indicate that the proposed reading process contributes to a more meaningful and contextualized mathematics teaching, as well as can be adopted as a didactic referral, in basic education and in higher education, for the teaching of mathematical concepts and ideas, contributing to the process of learning. active, innovative and creative teaching and learning.
