THE TEST PUT TO THE TEST: REFLECTIONS FROM AN EVALUATIVE EXPERIENCE IN A REAL ANALYSIS DISCIPLINE

The present work seeks to problematize the meaning of the traditional duet composed of lectures taught by the teacher and written tests, often adopted in mathematics subjects in teacher training courses. We discussed and analyzed the perception of ten future mathematics teachers about an experience carried out in a Real Analysis class, in which it was decided to present seminars and produce pedagogical videos by students as an evaluation tool. At the end of the semester, students were invited to express their perceptions about the experience through a questionnaire with open questions. From the analysis of the responses, two main axes of analysis emerged, the first being related to the dynamics of the meetings and the second relating to the production of educational videos by students. The results indicate that the initiative was positively evaluated by the group and created a space for reflection on the diversity of evaluation instruments in the area of mathematics. By relocating, redistributing and resizing the evaluation process, the experience provided the opportunity to question the meaning of practices traditionally established in disciplines in the area of mathematics, integrating training elements other than those commonly expected from a discipline that is imminently theoretical and strongly identified with the area of pure mathematics.
