Abstract

Information Science is a field of knowledge that interacts with other fields and diverse social groups. In this sense, it contributes to studies on women who produce knowledge in the field of Protestant Christian theology, based on observations of information practices and information regimes. To contextualize the research, the article describes data from the most recent censure on religion to demonstrate that women make up the majority of adherents of the Protestant Christian faith, especially those of mixed race or Black skin color. The profile of women with higher education in the 25-year-old or more age group has an average similar to that of adherents of evangelical communities, at 62.5 percent. However, the methodology adopted for the analysis noted that, in journals in this segment, the number of female authors is three for every ten men. And the editorial team uses the same media. This result diverges from the data for women in science, and specifically in the social sciences, where the percentage is close to 50 percent. The final considerations point to the need for in-depth studies on gender inequality identified in the Brazilian Protestant Christian theological environment that point out, in the light of Information Science, paths for the search for equality for women in the segment.
