Abstract

Public History has emerged as a relevant field in the Brazilian scenario over the last few years and, although there is not an intense academic engagement, it is strongly influenced by the issues of social media. In this context, there is a rise in denialist and revisionist narratives that challenge traditional historiography, primarily from far-right groups. These narratives reflect a strategic use of the past to justify political ideals, undermining the credibility of historians and promoting a pseudo-history devoid of academic rigor. The role of historians in digital media thus becomes crucial, not only to critique and contextualize these narratives but also to mediate dialogue among diverse historical productions, confronting distortions of history in the present time.
