This experience report at the University Library of the Santa Catarina State University aims to describe the activities developed in the BU Capacita project and measure the scope of the training carried out in 2020 and 2021. The following question arises: What were the reflexes of the activities developed in the BU Capacita project? Aware of the paradigm transition that University Libraries (BUs) and their professionals are facing, this report aims to disseminate the experience and highlight the need for the BUs to map the opportunities that arise in the midst of virtualization. To support it, a bibliographical survey was carried out in the Brapci database by title and subject, with the keywords ("university library" AND (covid-19 OR pandemic OR "coronavirus infections")), considering articles and experience reports. BU Capacita exceeded expectations due to its thematic variety and scope: 40 training sessions were held between January 2020 and December 2021, on the Udesc BU YouTube Channel, with a total of 4,140 participants. The main effects of BU Capacita perceived by the Working Group (WG) of Capacitations were: visibility of BU Udesc before the internal and external community, growth in demand for training by teachers, increase in the number of subscribers to the BU Udesc channel, collaboration among librarians of the teaching centers, growth in the production of content for social media, creation of new tutorials for the YouTube channel, development of new skills and competencies of the WG participants, among others. It is observed a trend of virtualization and specialization of information services, and it is up to librarians to develop their skills and abilities to meet the demands and expectations of the academic community.
