Abstract

This article examines the textbook as a social technology, focusing on the linguistic and cultural diversity of English In materials approved under PNLD 2026–2029. The study is grounded In the central role of textbooks In public schools and the need to align English language education with SDG 4.7 of the 2030 Agenda. It aims to Investigate whether and how official PNLD policy documents Incorporate perspectives of global citizenship and cultural diversity. Methodologically, it adopts a mixed-methods analysis of evaluation criteria and review reports of the approved textbooks. The findings show significant normative advances, but also discrepancies In the application of criteria, particularly In the distinction between “yes” and “partially.” The study concludes that further adjustments are needed to consolidate the textbook as a social technology.
