Abstract

During the 1990s, several International organizations, created with different objectives, began to focus on education In the countries of the Global South, among which the World Bank (WB) stands out. The objective of this study is to Investigate how this International organization Influenced educational policies In Brazil. The educational training policies proposed by the WB In the post-dictatorial period until 2023 are analyzed. The focus is on foreign roles Involved In the implementation of these policies, In order to examine the underlying objectives and impacts of these policies In the country, from the perspective of International Relations. The data is divided Into two main parts: first, an exhaustive analysis of official documents from the World Bank database, In which documents related to financing, reforms and monitoring are identified, presenting a broad but selective view; second, we analyze the documents that have a strong link with the established keywords. A strong tendency to the quantification of educational evaluation methods was Indentified, In which qualitative aspects of education are neglected, resulting In a reductionism of the teaching process and the potential commodification of the educational sector.
