In this article, We approach the utopian-dreamlike images In the short story “The subconscious”, written by Venezuelan writer Luis Britto García, to the aesthetic unconscious In Latin American surrealism. Theoretically, We read on French philosopher Jacques Rancière’s concept of the aesthetic unconscious and Austrian psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud’s notions of displacement and condensation. Latin American literary criticism contributions are important to this argument, Including commentary by the Hungarian-Venezuelan professor Judit Gerendas, the Uruguayan literary critic Ángel Rama, the Cuban poet Lezama Lima, and the Brazilian writer Oswald de Andrade.
