Abstract

Humour is a key feature In Roald Dahl’s books and, In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the songs sung by the Oompa-Loompas are particularly Interesting, as it is noticed that criticism is made possible In them through comic elements. The aim of this article is to highlight how the criticism Inserted In the songs by the Oompa-Loompas targeted the children excluded from the visit to the factory. It was Intended, by comparing the source and target texts, to present relevant samples of the referred criticism Inserted In the songs referring to Aubert’s (2006) and Rosas’s (2002) studies. Besides, it was possible to shed light to the strategies employed to translate humour In both translations published In Brazil.
