Possible post-pandemic cities: Covid-19 and the passagem from the modernist city to the "non-modern" city
Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic caused a turning point in scientific production in the most diverse fields. Its social consequences, especially regarding its relationship with the urban environment, have led several researchers to reflect on the condition of the city in the pandemic, as well as the possibilities of thinking about it in a “post-pandemic” moment. This article aims to briefly reflect on some of these proposals, seeking to analyze not only their viability in a Brazilian context, but also the type of city that would fit into these projections. From some reports and articles, we will show how what has been thought for the city is a continuation of a project focused on exclusionary urban forms and configurations. We believe that the lack of a perspective that focuses on inequalities does not bring us innovations, but a continuation of the modernist idealizations that guide us towards a “non-modern” city.
