Acessibilidade nas ruas do Recife: revisitando lugares nove anos depois

Abstract

This article intends to reflect on the implementation of public accessibility policy. It is a review of the research conducted between 2009 and 2011 on accessibility in the streets of Recife for people with visual impairment. The places that were mentioned nine years ago by the informants of the research were visited again, to observe the changes and permanences on the implementation of what determines the Statute of the Person with Disabilities and complementary legislation and it was verified that the streets of Recife remain deserts and oasis of accessibility. Understanding as oasis the places where there is respect for legislation and as deserts the other way around.
