Abstract

This article discusses the role of the Internet in the social movements of the beginning of the 21st century, based on the uprisings in arab countries between 2010 and 2011. The objective is make an analysis of blogs, journalistic sites and communities on the social networks dedicated to victims of the repression of security forces in Egypt and Tunisia, where popular demonstrations caused the downfalls of the tunisian dictator, Zine Abidine Ben Ali, and his egyptian counterpart, Hosni Mubarak. Such platforms would have been used to aware citizens from all over the world of the abuses committed by tyrannical regimes and to call for mobilizations.
