"Chose life": The Football as a subversion in cinema, among Trainspotting and T2

Abstract

Trainspotting (1997) and its sequel, T2 (2017), set football under a spotlight. Directed by the english film-maker Danny Boyle and inspired on scotchland writer Irvine Welsh’s serie of books, both of them has scripts that takes place in Edinburgh. This paper aims to investigate the sport’s subversive dimension of the movies. In order to understand this feature, a bibliography about the brittish working class written by historians will be discussed. Although these works analyze a moment in Great Britain before the third millenium, the research will colaborate to indetify how sports are inside both productions. The paper horizon thus allows a comparison between the periods of the two launches and an observation of their proximities and distances.
