The Skinhead Redemption From the Cinema's Optics
a comparative analysis from the films American History X and Skin
Abstract
This article aims to comparatively analyze how film productions approach the process of abandoning neo-Nazism among skinheads. For this, we selected the films American History X and Skin. For that, Methodologically, Comparative History will be used. From the analysis we understand that the phenomenon of analysis consists of two elements. The first reference makes the entry of young people into groups of neo-Nazi skinheads and the second their departure in a process of abandoning this lifestyle. To demonstrate how this happened, the directors use the use of narrative events that explain why the characters go through this process of a personal and collective reality. In this way, films become instruments of analysis and observation of how cinema has portrayed this process of abandoning racist ideals by members of groups of this type.
