Resistance as an eyewitness

Abstract

The advent of the Republic was marked by positivist scientism, by new habits based on various racial theories and by the denial of all black and indigenous past, providing a misrepresentation of the religions of African presence in Brazil. In view of the above, we will approach in this article two characters who, during the 20th century, accompanied the internal and external dismantling of religions of African presence, and with the use of media tools, were able to contribute with a perspective of return to African origins and black ancestry.
