AN ABANDONED HISTORY (1878-1930)
the intellectuals who contributed to hinterland education on the route from Paulo Afonso Railroad - Piranhas (AL) to Jatobá (PE)
Abstract
This article aims to reflect on the beginning of the educational process in the municipalities that were part of the Paulo Afonso - Piranhas railway (AL) route to Jatobá (PE) in the late 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. The study aims to highlight the work done by men, especially by Reinaldo von Krüger, as well as Delmiro Gouveia and Dr. Brandão Cavalcanti, who transformed the lives of the inhabitants of that region, recalling a history that was abandoned and highlighting the transformations in the field of education. The temporal scope adopted, between 1878 and 1930, corresponds to the period of the beginning of the railway construction and the last edition published by the Correio da Pedra newspaper, the primary documentary source used in the research. In this sense, it is understood that the initiatives of these intellectuals contributed to modifying the local physiognomy and helped to establish a new dynamic in the society of the time.
