Nation in the military periodical press (1850-1882)
Abstract
This article aims to present one of the characteristics that will make up the ethos of the Brazilian military class of the 19th century: the relationship between the military and the homeland and the nation. Such elements are important constituents of the discourse on the institutional formation of the Brazilian armed forces, in the context of the formation of national armies. The press will be the channel for disseminating ideas and dialogues chosen by the military, especially after 1850. In this sense, the press appears as an important field of definition for the military class in the 19th century.
