Ancestry and Historical Temporality
a dialogue about relational times
Abstract
Abstract: This text aims to present the articulation between the concept of ancestry and the production of historical knowledge. This proposal aims to create spaces of belonging in which the dialogue between the testimonies of Afro-diasporic traditions finds a sensitive place in the listening posture of historians, opening paths that expand understandings and explanations in the field of historiography. To carry out our reflection, the use of the resource of testimony (ancestry) presents itself not only as a pile of memories, but a theoretical catalyst that allows us to enter more complex levels of temporality, establishing relationships between presence and absence, linking history and memory at a crossroads. of time and space, placing the researcher between “the horizontality of experience and verticality, which concerns our singular incidence in the face of collective horizontality”. III The idea presented and debated in the guide text, ancestry as a temporal dimension, allows the imagery of representations of temporal languages to create varied critical and analytical possibilities in the field of History.
Keywords: Ancestry; memory; History.
