Paradigm shifts in work organization work result in different levels of acceptance/ adaptation/legitimization of the organizational models by workers. In this paper, we analyze the generational cut between workers, its causes and its consequences. A division of workers into different generational groups was observed, as a result of how they relate to restructured banking work. Moreover, understanding the generational division and its implications for organization and labour relations allows us to take a new approach to the constraints on organization and union action. In this sense, we propose that such an analysis shall consider the distance between union and workers based on their disagreements of ideas and values, which, in turn, are informed by different trajectories and backgrounds.
Keywords: Generational divisions among workers; established and outsiders; banking work; flexible model.
