Abstract

This article analyzes the troubled moment of contemporary democracy, starting with the restructuring of the movements linked to the new right-wing in Brazil (under the rise and government Michel Temer) and in the USA (under the administration of Donald Trump). We will demonstrate how the changes in politics and society in these countries, marked by the spirit of "No Places" and attempts to construct a "Cultural Wars" have inserted strategies and mobilizations that tolerate actions that push´s the borders and the limits of the democracy. In this sense, authoritarianism, nostalgia, conspiracy theories, post-truths and constructions of idealized enemies gained a special dynamism in the political manifestations of these movements, being quickly emulated in their expansion in Brazil and in the understanding of the world of some of their main actors.

Marco Aurélio Dias de Souza, Universidade Federal de Sergipe

Doutor em Sociologia pelo PPGS/Unesp/Araraquara. Professor de Sociologia e Antropologia no Departamento de educação de Itabaiana (UFS). Pesquisador no Laboratório de Estudos sobre Mercado e Organizações na Sociedade (LEMOS).

Ariel Finguerut, Centro Universitário SENAC.

É doutor em Ciência Política pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp). Professor de Relações Internacionais e de Metodólogia do Centro Universitário SENAC, Campus Santo Amaro . É pesquisador do Grupo de Trabalho Oriente Médio Mundo Muçulmano ( GT OMMM ) da USP , do Instituto de Estudos Econômicos e Internacionais ( IIEEI/ Unesp - Projeto Sem Diplomacia) .
