CRITICAL MATHEMATICS EDUCATION AND INFORMAL SOCIAL VULNERABILITY: CRITICALITY OF A RECYCLING PICKER WHEN DEALING WITH MATHEMATICS IN HER DAILY LIFE

This paper is a segment of an ongoing doctoral research project, aimed at investigating the critical thinking of some recycling picker when confronted with issues related to their understanding of Critical Mathematical Education in informal environments. Our rationale for this research is to shed light on the vulnerability inherent in the work of recycling picker, and to observe their decision-making processes as they seek to improve their income. The theoretical framework is anchored in themes related to Critical Mathematical Education, Informal Learning, and Social Vulnerability, with a focus on recycling picker. The research aims to identify the key factors that inform decision-making and identification processes within informal learning environments. The methodology involves conducting interviews and observing the daily activities of a recycling picker. The main findings of this research include an increased awareness of the use of Critical Mathematical Education in informal knowledge settings.
