Abstract

This article is based on the poems “Criar” and “Havemos de volta”, published in Sagrada Esperança (1974), by the angolan Agostinho Neto. On the margins of the fifty years commemorating the Political Independence of Angola, bringing the artistic, literary and historical contributions of the author is necessary not only to enrich the repertoire of international references, but also to understand the continuous call that exists in his production. This call arises from the desire to emerge at the root of the nation, seeking to meet the need to create a new subject allied to local interests. As a theoretical framework, we base ourselves on the contributions of Tânia Macêdo (2008), Russell Hamilton (1981) and Manuel Ferreira (1987).
