MODERNISM IN THE NEWSPAPER WRITINGS BY A “MAN OF 1922”: SÉRGIO MILLIET AND HIS DIÁRIOS CRÍTICOS

This paper aims to analyze the modernism based on the newspaper writings in Sergio Milliet's Diários Críticos. Sérgio Milliet, a sociologist, but also an essayist, poet, translator, literature and arts’ critic played an important and less studied role in this movement. The articles of his Diários have been the object of our attention, since we identified references to modernism in them, in the sense of his particular participation, expressed in reviews of the movement and in the defenses of his legacy. Milliet affirmed himself as "Man of 1922" and shared his experiences, in a constant dialogue with Mário de Andrade.
