Resumen

Busca-se aqui mapear e investigar como a obra de Edgar Allan Poe impactou entendimentos contemporâneos sobre teoria e crítica literária e cultural. Criador de um modelo narrativo e conceitual extremamente eficaz (conto), Poe também contribuiu de modo singular para uma gama de outras formas e gêneros, inclusive gêneros não ficcionais (poesia, ensaio, teoria, crítica), tornando-se um escritor central na concepção do que chamamos de Modernidade. Discute-se como sua obra se manteve em evidência ao longo dos séculos, tendo sido objeto de discussão das principais metodologias ou abordagens acadêmicas (Formalismo, Estruturalismo, Crítica Psicanalítica, Crítica Histórico-Cultural, Desconstrução) e conclui-se que Poe foi e tem sido um escritor essencial para o estabelecimento de entendimentos contemporâneos sobre teorias do texto, teorias do leitor, práticas literárias e culturais.

PhD em Latin American Cultural Studies pela The University of Manchester. Professor Associado do Departamento de Língua e Literatura Estrangeiras da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (DLLE/UFSC). Professor permanente do Programa de Pós-graduação Interdisciplinar em Ciências Humanas (PPGICH/UFSC), do Programa de Pós-graduação em Letras da Universidade Federal de Sergipe (PPGL/UFS) e do Programa de Pós-graduação em Literatura (PPGLit/UFSC).
