Will history survive the hypertext? Some insights into history writing in the digital age

Abstract

This paper examines theoretical and methodological aspects related to the writing of history in the Digital Age. It is an introduction on some early issues and problems on the relationship between history and the Internet in the beginning of the century (2001-2011). We highlight mainly problems concerning the use of historical sources and documents available in cyberspace. It focus especially on issues regarding the use of hypertext as a new way for a reference system more virtual than the classical footnotes system.
