Peer review
The Revista de Estudos de Cultura (REVEC) adopts a double-blind peer review system, ensuring that neither authors nor reviewers know each other's identities during the process. Manuscripts are initially pre-evaluated by the editors, considering criteria such as originality, relevance, scientific contribution, topicality, general structure, and compliance with editorial policies. If they do not meet these requirements, authors are notified within 15 days, with the article being rejected and archived.
When approved in the pre-evaluation, the manuscript is forwarded to two ad hoc reviewers, selected from the Editorial Board, with a deadline of up to 30 days for analysis and issuance of the opinion: acceptance (with or without adjustments) or refusal. In case of divergence between the opinions, a third reviewer is appointed. If necessary, the editors may invite additional reviewers.
The editor in charge communicates one of the following decisions to the author:
Acceptance without changes
Acceptance with minor adjustments
Mandatory corrections (with a new round of evaluation)
Rejection and archiving
In cases requiring adjustments, the author has 30 days to submit the revised version accompanied by a document justifying the changes. This new version is reevaluated by the reviewers, who will decide whether to accept, reject, or request further modifications.
Changes that are exclusively grammatical, spelling, or normative, aimed at ensuring uniformity in the publication, may be made directly by the editors, respecting the author's style. In all other cases, it is up to the author to reformulate the text according to the guidelines received.
The journal reserves the right to reject works with significantly similar content (plagiarism) at any stage of the process. For this purpose, it uses the Turnitin tool to detect similarities.
The average time between manuscript acceptance and publication confirmation is approximately 150 days.
