Queer Studies has expanded beyond its traditional frameworks, incorporating intersectional dialogues that allow for the specificities of race, class, and culture. However, the integration of quilombola, terreiro, indigenous, black, immigrant, and refugee women within this academic field still lacks a deeper and more critical approach. It is in this context that Afro-Queer Studies emerges as a platform of resistance, offering new possibilities of interpretation and practice for the experiences of non-white women. This study aims to discuss how these peripheral bodies and practices not only subvert hegemonic narratives, but also create spaces for the construction of counter-hegemonic knowledges that value Afro-diasporic, indigenous, and other marginalized epistemologies. By investigating these intersectionalities, we seek to contribute to a broader understanding of the multiple forms of cultural and political resistance that non-white women articulate in the field of Afro-Queer Studies.
