Abstract

Abstract: War is becoming an increasingly common element in the daily reality of international relations. Even during the period of United States global dominance following the Cold War, conflicts and hostilities have proliferated worldwide. Indeed, what is observed today is that the hegemonic power itself is directly involved in dismantling the very order it established in the post-World War II era. Thus, the question arises: what or whom do these wars serve? This article aims to understand the political-economic role of the constant wars waged by the US since 1991 in its capacity as an imperialist superpower. To this end, it adopts a predominantly critical theoretical framework rooted in Marxist traditions and employs the historical-dialectical materialist approach, the historical procedural method, and the technique of indirect documentary research. The findings point to a logic of domination in crisis—one attempting to reconfigure itself without forfeiting the privileged status gained through military supremacy, displays of power, the attraction of allies, resource control, sectoral profitability, and domestic support.
