Abstract

The 2030 Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are relevant to all areas of science, including language sciences. This dossier, comprising 13 articles, demonstrates how research in this area is aligned with the SDGs, especially in the contexts of quality education, reducing inequalities, gender equality and promoting peace. The topics covered include intercultural language education, sociolinguistics, grammar teaching linked to human rights, the inclusion of deaf students, the internationalization of higher education, the use of technologies in language teaching and literary analyses with a gender and race focus. With this dossier, we highlight how language science research can contribute to the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development, even when the 2030 Agenda is not the explicit goal. Our field reinforces its ongoing commitment to quality education, the reduction of inequalities and the promotion of peace through these investigations.
