Abstract

In this paper, we analyzed lesson plans for teaching English as an additional language, created with ChatGPT – a language model developed through Artificial Intelligence (AI). We observed not only the product, that is, the plan delivered by the tool, but also the interactive process of seeking practical and methodological improvement of the planning. Versions of the lesson plan were analyzed in light of principles of communicative language teaching. In addition, we analyzed how the tool presented the skills that integrate Communicative Competence in the actions that make up the plan, based on the framework of Celce-Murcia (2007). The results indicate the feasibility of using the AI tool to support the elaboration of lesson plans and highlight the essential role of the human factor in obtaining plans aimed at the development of Communicative Competence.
