Abstract

The rapid development and popularization of social networks has created a series of opportunities and challenges for different areas. Within the field of fan studies, digital spaces have come to configure areas of academic and social interest, as they provide fans with the ability to exchange knowledge with each other, publish their own content and promote their object of interest to new audiences without geographical constrictions. We highlight K-pop as a cultural phenomenon that promotes the use of social networks to create and promote content through the collective mobilization of its fans. This article seeks, through a literature review, to enrich the dialogue around the collective mobilizations carried out by K-pop fandoms. We will highlight how fans of the group BTS self-organize and mobilize actions through the use of social networks. To this end, we will base our observations on studies by Booth (2010), Jenkins and Deuze (2008), among others.
